Only a 7 minutes walk from the Eastside Academy, in the corner of Wilton Way and Greenwood Road, is a lovely gastro style pub called Spurstowe Arms. Great selection of beers (Black Sheep, Flowers, Pedigree, Leffe Hoegaarden ) and good food, which on a sunny day can be enjoyed in their beer garden.

Cat and Mutton

Yes I know its a pub and on Broadway, but the food here isn’t too bad and the atmosphere can be fun. Best during the week nights when quieter.

Santa Maria del Buen Ayre

Meat, meat and meat! The Santa Maria del Buen Ayre on Broadway market is a argentinian steak restaurant that offers a pretty decent local steak. Its unpretensious, friendly and offers some good wine too.

I would recommend the rib-eye and I’m sure the fillet is good.

Prices

8oz sirloin : £8
10oz rib-eye : £12
Home-made sausages : £6.50

For brilliant pizza, visit Firezza

After having tried a few pizza delivery places around the area (e.g Pizza Hut, Pizza Man, Sorrento), with average results (normal London pizza standards)… I’m very pleased to announce that last night I found an amazing place called Firezza!

pizza.jpg

The pizzas are wood-fired oven pizzas ordered by the meter (oh yes!). The minimum order is 1/2 meter – enough to share between 2-3 people – and you can choose your own toppings every 1/4 meter. The photo above is a 1/2 meter pizza with a 1/4 Patate (Mozzarella, rosemary potato, red onions, smoked pancetta and Gorgonzola cheese) and a 1/4 Chorizo (Tomato, mozzarella, spicy Spanish chorizo sausage and wood-roasted red peppers).

To order call 020 73 59 74 00 or order online at www.firezza.com. The online order system is ok, it’s not well designed or built, but don’t be frightened by it – I used it and 25 minutes later someone was buzzing the front door.

The actual pizzeria is at the end of St. Paul’s Road.
